Archiving the Ephemeral: A Limitless TikTok Story Viewer

TikTok stories are designed to disappear. After 24 hours, they are gone from the public profile. For researchers, archivists, or just casual users, this ephemeral nature is a problem.

Screen recording is a bad solution. It captures the UI elements (like, comment buttons) and compresses the video quality significantly.

I have released a new utility that interacts directly with the story endpoint. It fetches the raw video file from the CDN, bypassing the frontend player entirely.

How it Works

2. Fetch: The tool queries the backend for active story tokens.
3. Extract: It parses the JSON response to find the play_addr (the raw video URL without watermarks).
